Mu Young Design is a unique brand born in the "City of Angels" Los Angeles, California. The mission of Mu Young Design is to be the bridge between Asian culture and Western culture through art and fashion.

CEO of Mu Young: Allison Yang, a concert pianist who studied with the famous Italian pianist Thomas LaRatta. She has performed throughout the US and Europe.

Her pursuit of classical music inspired her to study architecture, music and fashion literature around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and trekking in the Alps.

Hello Allison and welcome to Milan Weekly! Can you tell us about Mu Young Design?

Thank you! I'm a pianist. Classical music inspired me to study architecture, music and fashion literature around the world.

At the end of 2022, I founded Mu Young Design, a unique brand born in the "City of Angels" Los Angeles, California. The mission of Mu Young Design is to be the bridge between Asian culture and Western culture through art and fashion.

Later, the bag "Alli" was born - named after a beautiful Lilliput Glacier in the Sierra Nevada, California. We design this clutch bag called "Alli", (A- Lovely- Lilliput).

What is your relationship to fashion and what is your favorite style?

For me, fashion is a very personal and individual thing that can be easily labeled. It's important to show your own style, attitude and what makes you feel comfortable. The style I personally like is minimalistic, with texture that represents me.

Any news about your upcoming performance?

The "Love Letters" series is a concert based on the true love stories of composers. My team and I hope that friends who love classical music will have a better understanding of their stories and a more direct interpretation of their works.

I'm very excited about this "Love Letters" series. It's an absolute "welcome back stage" ritual for me. Concert opening Sep 2023, the tour starts in San Francisco, Los Angeles, then Chicago, Paris. Hopefully add one in Milan!

How do you define a pianist and an entrepreneur? What are the similarities between them?

Learning to adjust one's role in different situations, having flexibility and adaptability to respond to different challenges and opportunities are common traits between these two roles. I think 3 points are important. 1. Both require a strong spirit and perseverance. Pianists need to spend hours practicing every day to achieve excellent playing skills and musical expression, while entrepreneurs need to invest a lot of time and effort in developing marketing strategies. 2, Both require leadership and organizational skills. Pianists need to manage their schedules and performance arrangements, while entrepreneurs need organizational and managerial skills. 3, Communication and interpersonal skills are critical. Pianists need to make connections with other musicians, conductors, and audiences, and these communication skills are also essential for entrepreneurs.
